East Meets West

Ages 4+. 60 min.

East Meets West is collection of extraordinary puppetry vignettes that will delight all ages. Presented with string puppets, hand puppets and rod puppets, the audience is sure to be enchanted and amazed. The short stories offer both Eastern and Western characters and ideas, blended together by Hua Hua Zhang, a conceptual artist, puppet designer, choreographer and performer. EMW has been presented at the Smithsonian Discovery Theater; Mum Puppettheatre in Philadelphia, The Children’s Museum in Boston, and numerous theaters, schools, libraries and other venues in the Northeast United States.

This will be Hua Hua’s third performance at the Colonial and we are delighted to have her back on our stage!

Hua Hua graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Fine Arts, the Department of Dramatic Arts and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Puppetry. She believes that, as a Chinese puppet artist, it would be wonderful to share her rich experiences with audiences, especially since she studied and performed at puppet theaters in both China and America. The show is based on her journey to study both Eastern and Western art forms. Please visit www.huahuaz.com to find out more about Ms. Zhang.

A Unique Summer Camp!

Ms. Zhang will teach a week-long art workshop for children ages 10+ at the Colonial for one week this summer (Jul 26 – 30, 1-3PM). Details are available here.
