RAY ATKINS is another seasoned artist from neighboring Berks County. Ray’s music inspires his listeners, taking them on a musical journey with shades of Zydeco, Reggae, Blues, Rock and Folk. A founding member of the popular Los Manatees band, Ray continues to collaborate with them on song writing and is featured with them on occasion. His new band includes former bass player of the Robert Hazard band Michael Radcliff and drummer Neil Simkins along with the one and only Ted The Fiddler. Ray is working on a new album – come and hear his new material along with some of the old.
J.D. MALONE has shared the stage with many national acts. J.D. founded the pop/rock band Steamroller Picnic in October of 1993, in which he sang and fronted until September of 2004.
Steamroller Picnic had some big corporate beer sponsors, (COORS Light 1996-2000) and (BUD Light 2000-2004) and got their own billboards on Interstates 95 and 76, (courtesy of COORS Light). They released an independent CD, Grow, in 2002, engineered by Andy Kravitz (Billy Joel, Paul Simon) and got on the MTV (Advance Warning, July 2003). During that time he also founded, produced and booked the Y-100 Tuesday Night Music Club, a local, regional and national music showcase.
In December 2007, J.D. was selected as a semi-finalist in The Plowshares National Songwriting Contest and in May 2008, he was one of six winners in The Philadelphia Songwriters Association contest.
“Life is sweet. Every morning when I wake up that bright blue sky has no limits. I just love to sing and play and get together with folks who “do” music because they love it.”
